SRUSR referee Paul Daniels has been using his local Parkrun course to maintain his basic fitness over the past few months.  Perhaps his efforts (see below) can be used as a benchmark for others? For those unfamiliar with Parkrun, it is the opportunity to run a timed 5km at various courses each Saturday morning at 9.00am.  Local Parkruns include –

Battlestead Croft(Burton), Cannock ChaseIsabel Trail(Stafford), Rosliston(Trentham GardensBeacon(Lichfield), HaMarkeaton(Derby), ChasewThe Wammy(Newcastle), Trentham GardensBramshall Road(Uttoxeter), EastPark(WolverhamptonBrunswick Park(Wednesbury), Walsall Arboretum

Simply register for free with Parkrun (www.parkrun.org.uk) then bring a scannable copy of your unique barcode to the run – this will enable you to receive an email with your time when you participate at any Parkrun event around the country (or worldwide!)

….. and the benchmark? 26 minutes 31 seconds (an age-graded score of 65.05%).
