PGMOT referee Neil Chivers attended the latest meeting of the SRUSR Development Squad at Lichfield RFC on Wednesday 19th of February 2020, where he talked about the mindset required by referees to prepare for a game; what players are looking for from referees; and how to approach the breakdown, scrums and lineouts.
Drawing on his experiences moving through the ranks from his first introduction to refereeing as a member of NMSRFR to the Midland Group then to the National Panel of match officials and latterly to membership of the Professional Game Match Officials Team, Neil gave a lively presentation, which stimulated lots of group discussion and learning.
Many thanks to Neil for giving up his time to talk to us and we wish him well on his rugby journey!
Please remember that SRUSR Development Squad meetings, while targeted at Development Squad members, are open to all members of SRUSR (see the Meetings page of the website for details of future meetings). If you are planning to attend, please contact Adam Carpenter so that he can ensure adequate catering arrangements .
